Hello and Welcome

My name is Andy Smith and I love chess. I enjoy helping kids and adults learn how to play or improve their game. I am passionate about chess and education. I am currently in the process of developing an instructional DVD for teachers and parents to use at home and in the classroom.

I am offering chess lessons for individuals and for groups out of my office in downtown McKinney on the square (above Spoon's Cafe).

Chess is Fun!

Chess is a very unique, life-long game that can be played at any age and helps promote a variety of cognitive skills for kids. Chess can be a great alternative solution for children with challenges focusing, hyperactivity, and social inhibition (ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s).

But chess is not dependent on age. Anyone can learn to play chess at any age, which makes the game a very unique

Lesson Rates and Details

Half-Hour sessions are recommended for beginners. As the students’ skills advance, Full-Hour sessions are recommended. Discounted group rates are also available.

Pre-payment for a minimum of four lessons is required. Chess is a game of discipline – a commitment on the student’s part is highly encouraged. Please notify twenty-four hours in advance before canceling in order to reschedule the lesson. Check, Cash, and Credit Cards are accepted.
